JE James Cycles have recently added three new Specialized models to their current demo hire fleet. The Specialized Levo SL Comp Carbon, Levo FSR Comp 6Fattie Electric and the Kenevo Expert 6Fattie Electric - the Levo SL Comp Carbon is available in three sizes the Levo FSR Comp and Kenevo Expert are available in four sizes. So if you’re wondering how these bikes perform out on the trails, you don’t have to take the manufacturer’s (or our) word for it, you can book them and put them to the test for a day, a weekend or a week. At the end of the hire, if you’re smitten and want to dip your hand in your pocket to buy one of your own, we will take your hire fee off the RRP.
With the Specialized Levo SL you get a light, nimble and great looking bike. It benefits from the new Specialized 1.1 lightweight magnesium cased motor which is much smaller than the 2.1 motor and weighs only 1.95kg but still offers 240 watts and 35Nm of power. This new motor offers three levels of power, ECO, TRAIL, and TURBO (or you can turn it off). When the motor is not offering support it disengages and gives no more drag than a standard MTB bottom bracket. It has a 320Wh internal battery giving you up to 3.5 hours of trail riding pleasure. The bike offers 150mm of travel with 29er wheels front and rear and is very well spec'd.
This new Kenevo from Specialized is a beast of a machine. Fitted with RockShox Boxxer 180mm dual crown forks you’ll have superb control on those fast downhill descents. At the rear RockShox Super Deluxe Coil Select Shock keeps the bike planted with a smooth, fast ride over the roughest terrain. If there’s a trail you want to tame this bike is the perfect partner, because once you’ve made it to the bottom, you’ll be keen to do it all over again and chairlifts are not always available. This is where the custom Specialized 2.1 motor and integrated 700Wh battery does its business. The new motor is 15% smaller than its predecessor, 11% lighter and a lot more efficient. With instant engagement, incredible heat management and a double freewheel that disengages the gearbox when you hit top speed, the new 2.1 motor is whisper quiet and smooth with consistent output, even at maximum power. And when the time comes to recharge, the integrated battery is simply removed by a single Allen key (hex wrench) in no time at all.
It’s available in four sizes. For riders, 5ft 2in to 5ft 8in Specialized recommend either the S2 or S3. If you’re 5ft 5in to 5ft 11in choose either the S3 or S4. Riders 5ft 8in to 6ft 2in, Specialized suggest either the S4 or S5. For those between 5ft 10in and 6ft 4in, the S5 is the bike for you.
With geometry and kinematics based around the latest trail bikes, such as the Stumpjumper, the Levo FSR Comp 6Fattie is an e-Mountain bike with some of the best tech currently available. Like the Kenevo, Specialized has fitted the Levo with the latest 2.1motor, the smoothest most powerful motor available, giving your pedalling input a boost by up to 410%. It’s an out-and-out progressive trail bike with lengthened reach and short chainstays to maintain a low centre of gravity. The slackened head-angle gives you, the rider, more confidence on those challenging descents with a steepened seat angle to assist with your climbing. When we say assist, we mean to say, further assist, as the 2.1 RX trail-tuned motor and integrated battery gives you the boost when you need it.
With 150mm RockShox Lyrick Select RC 29 forks and RockShox Deluxe Select shock there’s unlikely to be any trails you won’t be able to tame. It’s well spec’d and incredibly capable. But don’t take our word for it, give it a try.
The Levo SL Comp Carbon, Kenevo and Levo are now available to hire. A £250 refundable security deposit is also required with payment due on collection from the store you choose.
