CUBE IS A LEADING GERMAN BICYCLE MANUFACTURER WHO
PRODUCES MANY TYPES OF BIKE. THEY ARE RENOWNED FOR
THEIR RANGE OF MOUNTAIN, ROAD AND E-BIKES.
In 1993 former student Marcus Purner started Cube bikes in a small area of his father’s furniture factory, in Waldershof, Germany. To this day the Cube factory head office is still based Waldershop is which is where their head office is now based. Marcus sourced frames from the Far East and sold the bikes in Europe to fund his University studies. Since then the company has vastly increased in size and sells bikes to over 34 countries in Asia and Europe. They still get their frames from the Far East which are then sent back to Waldershof for quality checks and building.
Cube Labs insist that the reliability and durability of every handlebar, stem and seat post is 100% for every bike. Each component is tested twice - during production and a second time at Cube’s own testing labs. Cube have special test labs for a road race and mountain bike. For road race, Cube tests their frames under loads equivalent to a sprint. Extra force is put through the crank arm to simulate the power exerted during a sprint finish. The test takes over 16 hours and once finished they test again, as they understand that during a normal days’ ride even more force is exerted. The force on the pedals is increased by a further 25%. To pass the test the bike will have to complete 10,000 turns at this level!
With mountain bikes, they pay particular attention to the head-tube due to the huge loads passing through it - forces exerted by the suspension fork. They simulate braking, jumping, and obstacles adding realistic loads for each area. A bike’s headtube must endure 50,000 cycles without damage before it’s good to go to production. Their bikes are designed for performance and endurance, are built to last and designed not to date quickly. They offer great looking bikes with good prices that benefit the rider
Cube bikes have a range of 171 models including hybrids, cyclocross, mountain, road, and triathlon. They also have a children’s and women-specific line (WLS). The latest addition to the Cube range is a variety of electric bikes. All Cube bikes are available in various colours and specification. In addition to their bike range, Cube also offers a good selection of parts, accessories, and clothing.
All Cube’s aluminium frames are hydro-formed with smooth welding. They offer four levels including Aluminium Lite, Superlite and Ultralite and High-Performance Aluminium. Their High-Performance grade (HPA) is used on their high-end models. This special alloy is heat treated and uses triple or quadruple butting, allowing for reduced wall thickness. The use of specially designed tubes creates a very stiff frame with superb looks. Cube’s process of wet paint application helps protect logos and lettering and reduces weight further on all their bikes. Their advanced mechanical forming process enables the tubes to be shaped without intricate welding and leads to bikes that are both unique in appearance but also improves function.
Cube’s ShockX material has incredible absorption qualities. It is designed to reduce rider fatigue by the elimination of high-frequency vibrations from the ground. ShockX absorbs these vibrations more quickly than other thermoplastic elastomers currently available. It is extremely flexible and hard wearing with maximum absorption realised at a temperature range of 15-26 degrees centigrade (matching the application range of a cycling product). ShockX material is also free from harmful substances..
Cube’s innovative C:68 carbon fibre is precisely that, a carbon content of 68%. During the manufacturing process, Cube uses a solid core to prevent excessive folds in the layers. This core is then removed ensuring no excess material and hence, less weight. The amount of resin used during the manufacturing process is vastly reduced due to fewer gaps, made possible by the flat structure of the carbon fibre. Cube then layers the fibres in two different directions reducing the wall thickness by up to 25%. The addition of nanoparticles in the resin system increases the strength and durability of the construction, giving a stiff, ultra-lightweight, robust and safe and bike frame.
Cube offers all riders the chance to ride a bike that suits there choice and style of riding . They offer a wide range of bikes for mountain biking, road riding, or competitive triathlon events, Cube's continued production and development of high quality, lightweight carbon frames gives the rider of today a chance to own one of the lightest frames currently produced making the most of their outstanding C:68 carbon technology. Cube's design, both with aluminium and carbon fibre, makes even their most affordable bike a quality unique look. Their C:68 carbon and HPA aluminium technology, combined with top end spec, ensures Cube bikes are some of the best in the world. Although Cube is a relative new-comer to the world of bike production their bikes offer great value for money and a bike you will be proud to own and ride.
E-bikes go from strength to strength and Cube E-bikes are at the forefront of E-bike design and technology. The Reaction Hybrids are agile and easy handling with the strength and function built in. The Bosch CX drive unit and PowerTube battery are designed to take you just about anywhere. Their Gravity Casting aluminium frames use the very best liquid moulding techniques to design complex frame sections. The motor, cover, battery mount, and cable routing form a single module giving a fully integrated frame design for battery and motor. This not only adds strength and function but also increases the bike's looks - so much so, it's hard to tell that today's Reaction Hybrid E-bike, is actually an E-bike.
