Hybrid Bikes

Womens Hybrid Bikes

So your bike needs to be versatile, with the ability to adapt with your riding demands, be it daily commuting Monday to Friday, with your life and lipstick packed in panniers, to urban city cycling and weekend trail adventures with a picnic on-board. Hybrid bikes are a popular choice because they vary, combining elements of a road and mountain bike with features such as wide gear ranges and disc brakes, with a more upright position giving you a bike that is comfortable to manoeuvre over a variety of terrain. Bikes tend to be classed as “unisex” due to the fact we all come in different shapes and sizes, with individual preference. However, across the market there are now more bikes specifically designed for Women, and bikes with female friendly features. At Je James we have a fantastic selection of these bikes that you can choose from. You will notice feature differences such as, narrower handlebars, sloped down tubes and shorter top tubes that allow for a comfortable reach whilst riding, this enhances your control-ability of the bike. Some brands such as Liv will use shorter crank arms and will reduce any leg stretch also, which can put strain on the body, eventually making cycling painful if fitted on the wrong sized or style of bike. One size definitely doesn’t fit all, but with all this in mind there is now more choice than ever amongst the bikes and brand variations to suit different cyclists.

You will find hybrid frames with both road and flat bars, front suspension and fat or narrow tyres, which will be perfect for mixing it up on cycle lanes, uneven roads and bridleways. Je James have a wide selection of Hybrids that will be great for those who don’t want to ride a mountain bike but want some of the features of a nimble bike to navigate the rocky roads. The more off-road designed hybrids will be geared around handling themselves on loose gravel, feature flat handlebars, manoeuvre smoothly through mud and keeping you upright over mixed terrain.
On the other end of the spectrum you have the road bike style hybrids, these will have narrower tyres, with enough clearance to change to bigger tyres if you need. Flat or drop handlebars. A lightweight frame with lugs for bike luggage and mudguards, should you want them, but still with an upright position, so you have a good view whilst moving with the traffic or riding through parks and alongside people. How you accessorise your workhorse is entirely up-to you, but if “options” is what you need then a hybrid will give you plenty, as will our range.
