Originally designed to offer grip in the most challenging of terrains (snow, sand, mud) fatbikes are now more mainstream.
The huge tyres and lower tyre pressures on a fat bike offer unmatched tyre traction, and although they can be a little more sluggish compared to other styles of bike, the addition of the motor eliminates the sluggishness whilst keeping the traction...win-win (and they look Bad-Ass). Ordinarily the battery is centrally mounted on the down tube with a bottom bracket mounted motor, giving crank assisted pedalling. This offers great stability with a high motor torque.
