Bianchi is one of the leading brands on the international market in the cycling sector and it boasts more then 125 years of history started in 1885.
Bianchi Bicycles was founded in 1885 by Edoardo Bianchi. They are an Italian brand that is now one of the biggest brands in the world. Bianchi is also the world’s oldest bike manufacturer that is still making bikes today. Edoardo Bianchi was a medical instrument maker; he started his bike building business in a shop at 7 Via Nirone, Milan, when he was just 21-year-old.
Bianchi are well known for making high performance bicycles. They offer a wide range of models for road, mtb, e-bikes, and hybrids. They also supply a large range of branded accessories. The frame development and design, as well as the colour combinations, and graphics, all take place at their headquarters in Treviglio, Italy. The brand is famous for painting most of their frames in their classic Celeste colour. Celeste is a turquoise colour sometimes referred to as Bianchi Green. The company logo is a crowned eagle, which is a reworking of the former Italian royal crest.
It is Bianchi’s belief that the frame is the heart of the bicycle. This is why they constantly invest in the research and development of their frames. Their aim is to continue to improve every bike in the range. For every model, Bianchi can create and assemble a resin prototype in house, allowing them to check the final look and shape of each frame before production starts.
With safety a priority, all frames go through strict tests in the labs. These tests consist of impact tests, allowing the technicians to assess energy absorption and stress resistance. Important parts of the frame such as the fork, seatpost, seat stays, chain stays, headset, and bottom bracket are stress tested, simulating the entire lifecycle of a frame, in just a few days. During production, 1 carbon frame and fork out of every 50 made is safety tested to its breaking point. 1 out of every 100 alloy frames are tested in the same way.
