Obviously we want to be safe whilst out riding our bikes and very many of us insist on wearing a helmet and full-on mountain bikers may keep parts safe with pads and body armour which you’ll find in our protection category.
There are other items available for helping keep us safe while out and about on the roads and trails. As more and more cycle ways are shared with footpaths around some towns, cities and the ever popular canal towpaths and parks, the need to let others know you’re there is very important. The range of bells and audible devices available is vast and for a small investment, you can quite politely let others know when approaching. Keeping them and you safe.
For commuters and town/city riders, traffic not only poses the obvious danger but some find the exhaust fumes hard to take, and can in some cases cause breathing or chest problems. If this is a concern, try a pollution mask and one of the available filters. And if what’s behind you makes you occasionally nervous, a mirror might put your mind at ease. At the end of the day if we can take little steps to keep us safe while out cycling, great.
