Today’s e-Bikes have excellent, rechargeable battery systems with a range of sizes from 300Wh to 600Wh. The larger the Watt Hours the longer the range offered by the battery with some able to cover many miles (depending on certain variables including terrain, weight of bike and rider, speed, gear selection and amount of pedal assistance given by the rider).
Some batteries are mounted on the down-tube, integrated in the down tube, behind the seat tube or mounted on a rear rack depending on manufacturer and model of bike. Many are very commonly removable for charging purposes.
Bosch, Shimano, Yamaha and Panasonic are some of the major manufacturers of e-Bike batteries and although they are built to give many miles of assisted cycling, there will come a day when the battery doesn’t offer the same power assistance. · Note the optimum storage temperature for the battery as they don’t like extremes (cold or hot)
· Keep a check on tyre pressure
· Ensure you use your gearing selection wisely giving as much pedal assistance as comfortable
